Ecoist

Founded in 2004, Ecoist develops fashion accessories for the eco-minded individual.
Their objective is to merge design with social and environmental consciousness to provide stylish, functional, and durable products that people will love to own. Ecoist recycles candy wrappers, food packages, billboards, and other materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. They are finding new uses for waste-bound materials and will continue to do so until those non-biodegradable materials are no longer manufactured.
All their products are made from recycled, organic, or earth-friendly materials, and are manufactured through their network of fair trade partnerships around the world, including organizations in Mexico, Peru, Chile, Brazil, and India. One of the most exciting aspects of their business is their process of manufacturing and the people behind their production. For example, Ecoist works with a non-profit organization in Mexico called Grupedsac (Group for the Promotion of Education and Sustainable Development) who, since 1987, has helped underprivileged citizens earn a living through projects that also aim to preserve the environment.
Ecoist believes that style comes first. When designing their accessories, their basic assumption is that no consumer will purchase their products because they are nice, eco-friendly tree huggers. Consumers will buy what looks good on them, what’s in, or what celebrities are wearing. However, through Fashion and their brand’s awareness, they hope to enhance the planet, elevate consumer consciousness, and transmit their values, not just their sense of style.
Ecoist collaborates with its network of accomplished designers to develop new sustainable products and collections. From Mexico to Chile to Miami, Ecoist is building a team of highly creative and talented eco-fashion designers.
Ecoist plants a tree for every handbag sold. They believe that by doing so, they can prove to their customers that they are serious about their commitment to preserving the environment and reducing global warming. Their objective is to inspire other businesses and individuals to join them.
Ecoist works with Trees for the Future to plant trees in areas that have been affected by industrial development, natural disasters, fires, and other causes. Recently, Ecoist has planted trees around the world including India, Uganda, Haiti, Mexico, and the United States.
Ecoist is located in Florida, USA.
