Operating in Canada and Uganda, Beads of Awareness (BOA) is a social business working to increase awareness about alternative development in Africa, support non-profits and balance business concerns with community entrepreneurship.
It purchases their jewellry from artisans according to fair-trade practices, which helps to support micro-finance initiatives and social responsibility across the globe. As an active partner in Uganda, Beads of Awareness invests 50% of its profits in development projects led by their members and other organizations in the Gulu district.
